Join us in this workforce development program that supports our exciting SonomaWORKS program, helping recipients of Welfare to Work track their job-search hours, write resumes and apply for jobs. Services are provided in-person, remotely, or a hybrid combination as determined by the client. The Employment Services Specialist will also provide career planning support to Circuit Rider’s own employees and frequently support other programs. This is a full-time position with consistent Monday-Friday in-person office hours. This is a full time, hourly position, $19-25 hour, DOE. We look forward to hearing from you!
JOB DESCRIPTION: Employment Services Specialist

Wage Range: $19.00/hour - $25.00/hour, DOE
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Position Summary: The Employment Services Specialist performs a variety of employment services, particularly workforce development/education and career planning support. Circuit Rider administers several social services programs for adults and youth, through its SonomaWORKS, VISTA, ART and Windsor Wheels programs. Circuit Rider also has an Ecological Programs division, consisting of employees who perform ecological restoration and fire fuels management projects. The Employment Services Specialist (ESS) position works primarily in the SonomaWORKS program; however, the ESS will also provide career planning support to Circuit Rider’s own employees, and support other programs where needed. Circuit Rider’s core competencies are workforce development and education and career planning support, and ideally include social science, habitat restoration, academic support, mentoring, youth services, and criminal justice.
Examples of duties to be performed:
- Responsible for coordination and execution of employment-related programs, particularly the SonomaWORKS program and data tracking requirements through the State of California’s CalWIN system. These services may be provided in person, remotely online, or in hybrid combination as determined by client.
- Responsible for contract compliance, under guidance from COO.
- Assists program participants with job search techniques, application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation, and job retention skills and attitudes; works with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills or review other employment options.
- Facilitates youth and adult career planning workshops.
- Writes and maintains case notes.
- Maintains accurate and detailed reports and project tracking of all service activities.
- Researches and otherwise seeks out information about the economy, unemployment, rates, and other impactful data both nationally and in the local community.
- Provides back-up assistance, as needed, for other programs at Circuit Rider, such as juvenile probation programs and ecology/habitat restoration programs:
- Provides supervision and transportation support for after school positive youth development and work experience opportunities programs.
- Provides and supports prosocial youth activities and participate in groups related to various program areas including education, character-building, leadership, health and life skills.
- Contributes to a safe and positive environment.
- Organizes, staffs and maintains the SonomaWORKS classroom area in our Windsor office.
- Regular supply and interoffice mail deliveries using own or agency vehicle.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Walk/stand/sit/bend/squat/kneel /twist intermittently throughout the workday. Repetitive finger movements with computer use. Specific vision abilities require by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Operate various hand tools and equipment in a safe manner. Occasionally work outdoors with exposure to extremes in temperature. Lift and move objects with help weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to drive for local and regional travel.
Required Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Social Services, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of one to two (1 - 2) years of experience providing employment services.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
- Access to vehicle, current drivers’ license, acceptable DMV driving record, auto liability insurance.
- Must pass DOJ fingerprint clearance by Sonoma County Probation Department with approval to provide service.
