About the Employer

The Mendocino County Office of Education is a public agency whose primary purpose is to provide educational leadership, resources and services to schools to ensure wide-ranging educational opportunities for all students. This mission is accomplished through cooperative efforts with teachers, school districts, families, and communities; through direct instructional programs and administrative services; and through coordination with the California Department of Education and other agencies.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Administrative Services, plan, coordinate, participate in and supervise the operations of the maintenance, grounds-keeping, shipping/receiving and custodial services for the Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE). **Tentative interview date is TBD.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in building construction, maintenance, and/or custodial work, preferably in a school or government setting; • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a related field; • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. A contractor license in one or more of the building or maintenance trades may be substituted for the required college education. Additional relevant experience beyond the required 5 years may be substituted for the required college education on a two-for-one year basis; • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid Class III California Driver's License; • Provide proof of automobile insurability; • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance. BENEFITS Employees are provided with an insurance plan, which includes health, vision, and dental insurance for employee, spouse, and dependents, at a shared cost. Participation in this plan is mandatory for employees working 35 plus hours a week. Employee will be a member of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) to which both the employee and MCOE contribute. MCOE does not participate in the Social Security system.
